Description:
The neighborhood youngsters have left their “toys” all over the Elders lawn and they want them back! But the Elders are determined to teach those ‘youngins a lesson, thus resulting in an attack and defend game mode. The game was designed to help expel all the young players’ excess energy while giving the older nerfers a chance to take a load off their feet. During the game each defender (elder) will be sitting in a lawn chair guarding a flag (toy) while the attackers (youngsters) attempt to steal them back.
Quick Reference Rules:
No shields or melee allowed
The defenders (elders) must remain seated at all times.
Unlimited Respawns. The attackers (youngsters) have instant respawn at their respawn point. The defenders (elders) are stunned for 5 seconds and place their hand in the air.
If an attacker (youngster) gets tagged while carrying a flag (toy) they must drop it where they were tagged.
Game ends when all the flags (toys) have been captured.
Detailed Rules
Do we need to use lawn chairs?
No. It just goes with the theme. If you don’t have enough lawn chairs then the defender can just stand.
Do the defenders need to be the older nerfers in the group?
No. It just goes well with the theme. It does help to have somewhat more experienced players take on these roles as they tend to strategize better but is not a requirement.
Who should be picked as the defenders (elders)?
Thematically they should be older players but it’s not required. They should have a good temperament and be willing to play the character as it makes the game more interesting. Silliness is highly encouraged in the elders.
Can the defenders (elders) shoot at players not trying to steal their specific flag (toy)?
Yes. All the elders are on the same team.
Variant: How does the guard dog work?
The guard dog is one of the defenders but instead of remaining stationary they can roam around but must use melee. This player should be patrolling the backfield/ blind spots of the defenders looking for attackers who are trying to sneak around. A guard dog cannot move or pick up any flags (toys). They are stunned for 5 seconds when they get tagged.
What if the attackers (youngsters) are struggling to make any progress?
If the game is becoming frustrating for the youngsters, a few of the Elders can elect to “Take a nap" or make deals with the youngsters to not tag them. Silliness is highly encouraged.

Setup Required:
Select one player to be a defender (elder) for every 4 or 5 attackers (youngsters). In general, the defenders should be older players. Additionally they should have a good temperament.
Provide each defender (elder) with a high capacity blaster.
Place a lawn chair or designate an area for each defender (elder) to be positioned. You can either place them so that their flank is protected or out of bounds or just leave them exposed depending on how difficult you want to make the game.
Place one flag (toy) near each of the defenders (elders). It should be somewhat easy to defend but not so hard as to frustrate the younger players for long.
Mark a respawn zone for the youngsters and place the bin for the flags (toys) there.
Variation: designate one of the defenders as the guard dog. They do not get a blaster but must use melee. They do not have a specific flag to guard but can roam around.
