Nerf War Rules For

VIP Extraction with Zombies

Player Count:

 10+

Playing Time:

 5 Min

Age:

 12+

Untested

Game Designer:

 Adam (Game Mode Repository)

Description:

This is a human vs human vs zombie game mode where teams are attempting to extract their VIP. At the beginning of the game everyone starts as a human, however they can be turned into a zombie by getting tagged by a dart or another zombie. Zombies are not tied to either team but have their own victory condition. Also this game mode is designed for slow zombies unlike typical HvZ’s. It’s specifically designed to feel different than a normal HvZ.

Quick Reference Rules:

  1. Single human life except VIPs get 3 human lives. VIPs have an instant respawn in the respawn area.

  2. A player loses all of their human lives if tagged by a zombie including the VIP. A player that is tagged by a zombie becomes a zombie.

  3. If a non-VIP human is tagged by a dart they lose their life and become a zombie.

  4. Zombies can only walk.

  5. If a zombie is tagged, one foot is frozen in place for 10 seconds but they can still pivot their other foot and tag players with their arms. Zombies must count out loud to 10.

  6. A zombies timer does not reset if tagged before the 10 seconds is up.

  7. The game ends when one of the VIPs successfully extracts, both VIPs  have become zombies or the game timer ends.

Can the zombies tag the VIP when they are returning to the respawn?

Yes. Note the VIP can’t use their blaster until they respawn.

Can a VIP shoot while respawning?

No. This means they are vulnerable to zombies who can tag them as they  try to make it back to the respawn area.

Is the VIP safe inside the respawn area?

Yes. Once a VIP reaches the respawn area they are safe from both zombies and darts.

Does the VIP need to immediately enter the field after respawning?

No. They can take a moment to plan a strategy but should not delay too long.

What do I do when I first become a zombie?

Place your blaster down in a safe location and count out loud to 10 Mississippi. You can then attempt to tag other players. Note zombies are not allowed to have anything in their hands.

Can zombies carry or use blasters/ equipment?

Zombies are not allowed to have anything in their hands. If they have equipment holstered that is ok, however anything that a zombie is carrying counts as a tag if hit by a dart. Players that were human but become zombies should place their blasters down on the ground in a safe location. Zombies  may not use melee, throwables or shields.

How do I tell if someone is a zombie? How do I know if a zombie is stunned?

Zombies are the players without blasters in their hands. Humans are not allowed to pretend to be zombies. Any stunned zombie should be counting out loud to 10. Note that unlike normal HvZ these zombies can still tag humans while stunned they just can’t move one of their feet.
