Description:

This is a great search and destroy style game mode that uses a target mechanism. One team must defend a pair of cup towers from an attacking team for 10 minutes. As a twist the attackers only know one of the cup tower locations at the beginning of the game and must seek out the other. The attackers destroy the cup towers by shooting them over but if even one cup remains standing then the attackers lose.

Quick Reference Rules:

  1. Players must shoot over the cups

  2. Infinite Lives. 10 second respawn.

  3. Game ends either when all cups have been shot down or the timer goes off.

What do I do if I accidentally kick over a cup?

If you are a defender then leave it knocked down. If you are an attacker then you should set it back up.

When is a cup considered knocked over?

If a cup is knocked on its side or is more than 12 inches from where the tower was built then it’s considered knocked over.

Group-Specific Rules

Decide On...

  • who has the final say on a disagreement about someone getting hit.

  • rules for jumping over or climbing on bunkers

  • what types of ammo are allowed

  • a dart velocity limit (I like 120 fps)

  • whether blaster hits and friendly fire count

  • rules for shields and melee weapons

  • what signifies that a player has respawned

Other General Rules

  • Be respectful. It’s only a game.

  • Use common sense

  • Before touching someone's gear ask for permission

  • Everyone should have eye protection

  • Don't move bunkers

  • Ricochets don't count

  • Players shouldn't discuss what's going on if they haven't spawned back in.

Victory Condition:

The attackers win if they shoot over all cups before the timer goes off. Otherwise the defenders win.

Basic Supplies

  • Foam Blasters (e.g. Nerf)

  • Extra Ammo

  • Bunkers (e.g. cardboard)

  • Copy of Rules

  • Team Indicators (Optional)

Setup Required:

  • Place one of the cup towers in a location that is known to both teams. The defending team is allowed to choose the location of the second tower. See the figure in the pdf for how to set up the tower. Note the towers should be built so that they are at least one cup length from any wall.

  • Set a 10 minute timer
