Description:

If you ever wanted to enter the Star Wars universe then this is the game for you. The game mode uses mechanisms from capture the flag and king of the hill which tie in beautifully with the theme of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Players are assigned either to Rebel Alliance or Galactic Empire during the Battle of Scarif, where the rebels are attempting to steal the Death Star Plans. During the game the rebels must locate the data disk with the Death star plans which can be in one of three locations; once located they must transport the plans to an upload station for transmission to the rebel fleet. For one of the best examples of Rogue One game play check out Aldoss’s video.

Quick Reference Rules:

  1. Infinite respawns. 10 second respawn

  2. Before the start of the game the imperial team decides which of the three predetermined locations to place the Death Star plans, the other two locations receive decoy data disks.

  3. If a rebel or imperial gets tagged while carrying a data disk they must place it on the ground immediately.

  4. When the rebels place the Death Star plans on the port at the upload station they are locked in place and cannot be taken.

  5. Once the plans are locked, the rebels can start the 1 minute upload timer; at which point the imperials are attempting to pause the timer in order to prevent its upload. The timer never gets reset but can only be paused and restarted.

  6. Game ends when either the 1 minute upload timer is complete or the 10 minute timer goes off. Note if the upload is going when the 10 minute timer goes off the game enters overtime.

Detailed Rules

When can I open the data disk to determine if I have located the plans?

You can either open it immediately or move off to a safe location.

What does the disk with the Death Star plans look like?

It is usually some kind of disk like a floppy or CD with red tape that is labeled “Stardust” but this will likely vary between different clubs.

When an imperial recovers a stolen disk are they allowed to place it anywhere?

No. They must immediately return it to the location that it was stolen from. i.e. don’t move to some obscure place and wait to get shot so the rebels won’t know where the disk is. If an imperial does not know which location a disk was stolen from then they should open it to figure out which location it belongs at.

Am I allowed to place the disk on the ground after picking it up?

You only place the disk on the ground if you get tagged otherwise it stays in your hand

Nerf%20Rival%20Ball%20Cropped_edited.png

Can I tell my teammates where a disk is or other information if I get tagged?

No. This is one of the general rules but as a reminder you cannot tell your team anything until you have respawned back into the game.

What if someone accidentally hits the timer right after getting tagged out?

They should immediately switch it back to the state (running or paused) that it was in before they hit it.

Group-Specific Rules

Decide On...

  • who has the final say on a disagreement about someone getting hit.

  • rules for jumping over or climbing on bunkers

  • what types of ammo are allowed

  • a dart velocity limit (I like 120 fps)

  • whether blaster hits and friendly fire count

  • rules for shields and melee weapons

  • what signifies that a player has respawned

Other General Rules

  • Be respectful. It’s only a game.

  • Use common sense

  • Before touching someone's gear ask for permission

  • Everyone should have eye protection

  • Don't move bunkers

  • Ricochets don't count

  • Players shouldn't discuss what's going on if they haven't spawned back in.

Victory Condition:

Imperials win if they prevent the upload of the Death Star plans for 10 minutes. There is however an overtime situation, if the 1 minute upload is going when the 10 minute timer goes off then the game enters overtime. If during overtime the imperials pause the upload it immediately ends the game and they win. The rebels win if they complete the upload of the Death Star plans.

Supplies Needed:

  • 3 disk cases with floppy’s or something similar. One of the disks should have red tape and be labeled “Stardust”.

  • masking tape, small mat or something similar

  • 1 minute timer

  • 10 minute timer

More Information

While you can use any timer, I personally like to use the iOS app Audio Countdown by Jason Everett. There's just something about hearing those last few seconds get counted down that makes the game more exhilarating.

About Me

I only recently made the switch to being a Nerf/ Foam enthusiast back in 2018. Rather than modding Nerf blasters, I found my real passion was in the creation of game modes.
