Description:
This game mode is based on the classic Nintendo 64 game GoldenEye where players are trying to control the “Golden Gun”. This can be played in team mode or as a free for all and can be either an elimination or infinite respawn style game.
Quick Reference Rules:
Infinite lives. 10 second respawn.
When a player is tagged by the golden blaster they return to their respawn and place a dart in the life counter container. Variant: players tagged by the golden blaster are eliminated.
Players tagged by a normal blaster respawn normally without adding a dart to the life counter container.
Players who are tagged while carrying the golden blaster must place it on the ground and go respawn.
Game ends when the timer goes off. Variant: Game ends when there is only one team (or player) left.
Detailed Rules
How do players know if they have been tagged by the Golden blaster?
The easiest way is for the person who tagged them to yell out that they got them. This can be tricky sometimes but do the best you can.
What is the life counter container?
It can be just about anything, it’s really just a way to easily track tags from the golden blaster. Make sure that darts are not going to be accidentally put in or taken out of the container. You can also use a clicker.
For the elimination variant, are you eliminated when tagged by non-golden blasters?
No. You respawn normally.
For free for all, how does the life counter work?
Each player will need a container, when a player is tagged by the Golden Blaster they place a dart in the container of the person who tagged them. Alternatively, you can give a player 5 flag football styles flags that they can drop a flag each time they tag someone with the Golden Blaster. Once they are out of flags they win.
Group-Specific Rules
Decide On...
who has the final say on a disagreement about someone getting hit.
rules for jumping over or climbing on bunkers
what types of ammo are allowed
a dart velocity limit (I like 120 fps)
whether blaster hits and friendly fire count
rules for shields and melee weapons
what signifies that a player has respawned
Other General Rules
Be respectful. It’s only a game.
Use common sense
Before touching someone's gear ask for permission
Everyone should have eye protection
Don't move bunkers
Ricochets don't count
Players shouldn't discuss what's going on if they haven't spawned back in.
Victory Condition:
The team (or player) with the most tags using the “Golden Blaster” wins.
Variant: the team with the most players alive wins.
Supplies Needed:
A Golden blaster. Obviously this doesn’t need to be gold colored, although it does add to the fun. It’s important that it be distinct so that everyone knows which one it is. It should also be single shot. Depending on the number of players you may want to have more than one golden blaster.
Option 1: Use a blaster that is more accurate and powerful than the normal blasters players are using. Ways to accomplish this is to require normal blasters to be low FPS full length dart blasters and then make the golden blaster a Rival knockout. You could also use a higher fps single shot blaster that fires half length darts and then let other players use rival blasters.
Option 2: Use a more silly blaster like something that fires mega XL or some other special ammo type.
timer
One Life counter container per team (or player when free for all)
